As a person born and raised and from Dubai, I will say the following about ALL the comments below: (Prices in AED) (Comparing mainly to EU) Nationality-based salaries: are TRUE, Asians/Africans get less (1k-20k), NON GCC Arabs a bit more (4k-40k), EU and Westerners the most (12k-50k).
That being said people from all walks of life live here, and they are all getting by, whether happily or miserably, and each community/salary base has a market to service their needs, you just need to explore to find the best deals for yourself. Don't believe the news that you see about Dubai that they have increased the salary. Salary increase is only applicable as per nationality, Asians are not included in the salary increase, in my company 90% of the staff are Asians, yet only the Arabs and Europeans got the salary increase. It's a fake news to attack talented Asians to work as slaves, and you will be locked by contract for 2 years.
